The show must go on - despite Bridgnorth rugby team's big day at Twickenham

It's going to be one of the greatest days in the town's sporting history but when Bridgnorth Rugby Club booked its trip to Twickenham it was anything but good news at the time for organisers of a music festival being held on the same day.

Organisers of EDG Sun Fest had been planning their event at the rugby club's Edgar Davies Ground for several months when the All Blacks booked their date in the final of the RFU Intermediate Cup.

More than 3,000 fans are expected to travel down to London on Sunday to cheer on the All Blacks as they take on Maidstone, leading to fears numbers would be down at the music festival.

But festival chiefs have vowed the show will go on – and have confirmed that live tweets and a live video feed will be sent to the festival from the home of rugby so revellers are kept up to date with the game.

It will be the third time the music event has been held at the rugby ground – and as it is held after the conclusion of the regular league season it hasn't clashed with rugby matches before.

Ken Adams, co-organiser of the music festival, said Jason McComb, owner of Bamboo Wine Bar and a member of the rugby club, had agreed to send out live tweets and record and send a live video feed via Youtube back to Bridgnorth.

He said: "This year we've clashed with the rugby club first team's final at Twickenham, so we'll all be rooting for them and looking forward to hearing some good news from them on the day. We'll be keeping our eyes and ears on the result and announcing how it's going at the EDG Sun Fest on Sunday."

The music line up at the festival will include Shatter Effect, Fight the Bear, Thom and Chrisbee, Dan Williams and the Alien Embassy, Audio Riot, Verbs Anova and Guitar Cubed.

Visitors will also be able to have a go on quad bikes, rodeo bull, gladiators, slides, bouncy castles and a wrecking ball.

Ice-cream, a pig roast, barbecue and Hobsons Bar will be available all day.

Advance tickets for the festival costing £3 are available from Bamboo Wine Bar in Low Town and Whitburn Coffee House in High Town.

Accompanied under 13s are allowed in free with paying adults but prices will rise on the day.
