But a group of young Shropshire dancers have been chosen to do just that as they are now rehearsing in earnest to appear at Wembley Stadium alongside singer Pixie Lott.

The troupe of girls from Fuzion Dance and Cheerleading Academy, based in Ludlow, will be part of the opening show before the Saracens vs Harlequins rugby match at the world-famous stadium on March 28.

The girls have been given the once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform in front of tens of thousands of people by Pro-Excel, a scheme that aims use sport to inspire and empower young people – which is precisely what it would be doing for the Fuzion members, academy founder Ema Paton said.

She said the dancers came from classes across Ludlow, Tenbury Wells and Leominster, and would be joined by 120 family and friends who would be travelling to the event in London to show their support.

She said: "The opportunity presented itself when Pro-Excel got in contact and told us about their work. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that the dancers will remember for ever.

"They are very excited to perform alongside 12 other dance schools on the pitch with Pixie Lott as she performs two of her tracks in front of over 80,000 people.

"The dance school is in it 10th year and this has got to be one of the most amazing opportunities to date."

But, she said, there was still a lot of work to be done.

"Now the hard work starts as they learn the choreography in a series of workshops, lead by Jess Hobson who also choreographed the opening ceremony of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup," she said.
