But after a swirl of social media rumours, could Take That star Gary Barlow be moving to the town?

Social media site Twitter has for the last week been flooded with sightings and rumours that the former X-Factor judge has set his sights on moving to Shropshire's county town.

The singer was first rumoured to be spotted at Draper's Hall restaurant on St Mary's Way on June 22.

The first Twitter record on Mr Barlow's activity in the town was by We Are Frostfire, a creative digital marketing company who work on the restaurant's brand.

The agency's official feed said: "Gary Barlow spotted at @Drapers_Hall in Shrewsbury today #GaryBarlow #Shrewsbury #celebrityspotting."

Despite the management of the restaurant being bemused by the suggestion he had eaten there, since then there has been a number of sightings in the town, and people have been documenting his whereabouts.

Allie Short took to Twitter to say she had seen the star a week later walking his dog in the town.

She said:

Ben Hart also tweeted that the singer, famed for songs like Want You Back For Good, Never Forget and Greatest Day, is thinking of sending his son to school in Shrewsbury.

He tweeted: "Gary Barlow is sending his son to Shrewsbury School and he's apparently moving here."

And fans are now getting excited they might be able to see their idol in the town themselves.

Grace Witthington tweeted: "Rumours of @GaryBarlow now living in Shrewsbury... Biggest claim to fame since Darwin? Definitely since Joe Hart."

In January last year Barlow took to Twitter to deny rumours that he is interested in buying Hawkstone Hall, in Marchamley, near Wem.

The property was on the market for £5 million.

When he was asked on Twitter if the rumours were true, Barlow replied with a simple "No".

So far Mr Barlow is yet to reply on the latest set of rumours.
