A total of 40 live music acts and 14 DJs will be playing across six venues, with music starting at noon and lasting until 2am.

Money from the event will go to Oxfam. Organisers are aiming to raise £2,500 for the charity and have already made nearly £2,000 through smaller fundraising events in the run-up to the event.

BBC Shropshire Introducing presenters Josh Withey and Rob Fanner will host The Hive stage from midday until 6pm, with highlights from the event broadcast on the radio in the evening.

Kathrynne Johnson, a spokeswoman for the event, said: "The Shrewsbury Coffeehouse and Henry Tudor House will showcase mellow, soulful music including BBC Shropshire's current song of the month artist, Beth Prior, while The Hive and Old Post Office will host bands including The Making who recently opened T-Live for McFly and Louis Coupe who made it on to BBC talent show The Voice.

"There will also be well known DJs finishing the night off at The Alb and The Vaults.

"Oxjam is a community based project which aims to showcase musicians in Shropshire as well as helping those in crisis around the world, so this is a great opportunity for new local bands to get airplay on the radio while raising vital funds for Oxfam."

Shrewsbury Film Society are also showing their support for the event by showing rock film The Last Waltz during the evening in The Hive as part of the Oxjam line-up, and they will be donating all proceeds to Oxfam.

Music will also be performed on trains between Shrewsbury and Crewe by performer Ollie Flavell, while visitors to Shrewsbury Railway Station will be entertained by musician Ollie Bond.

Live music will also be played at the Oxfam charity shop in the High Street.

Wristbands for the event cost £5 and provide access to all venues to see all performances tomorrow, they can be purchased on the door of all venues or in advance on www.oxjamshrewsbury.co.uk
