Beats me how the Shropshire Star thinks these non-events are worthy of any space at all. Twice this week we’ve been been asked to get excited about virtual unknowns showing up here. Don’t any REAL stars want to appear in Shrewsbury?

“Don’t any REAL stars want to appear in Shrewsbury?”
Of course they do. Check your events listings, Senior Willy will be appearing in Shrewsbury this weekend (see #9).

Well said Nisty, of course the real stars want to appear in Shrewsbury, headline act The Chuckle brothers were here this week, think of all the money that brought into the town with the “full up” signs adorning many hotels and B+B’s, plus all the resturants being fully booked, I say can we not book them for a straight fortnight to really put our great town on the world entertainment map!!!

This is a real boon for the county town and it typifies why Shrewsbury is such a desirable residential area. Events such as this will see house prices in the area sky-rocket.

WOW–he was married to someone called Katie Price? He is a cage fighter and now he’s going to take his trousers off in Shrewsbury.
Is there no beginning to his talents?

Sorry Towbar but with greatest of respect to you please read your blogs at least once before submitting them.
Yours above can be interpreted such that I understand people are going to pay hard-earned £’s to see an ugly bloke take his kit off!
Are you winding me up, have I fallen for your joke?

There’s no need to demonise the working class by using such a pejorative term.

I’m not condoning this rubbish but those uninterested in any sort of depth or quality to their culture have always been well catered for. Music Hall? Folk Music? Ealing Comedies? Carry On? – Some used to call it rather pompously ‘low-brow’ or just a distraction for ‘the working classes’. To say it’s getting dumber..well..i’m not sure and many will look back in 30 years time with rose tinted specs at this pointless flannel. I’ll be well gone by then though!

Yep, Mr Reid is like a modern day version of a wandering minstrel.
Admittedly, one without any pants on.

Shock Horror ! Nakedness in the county town, good grief no, surely not, the whole idea of a lap dancing club got the purple rinse brigade agitated, now, men taking their trousers off on stage.
Surely the Town Residents Association will be up in arms about this.
No doubt there will be a protest outside the theatre claiming this sort of thing degrades men.

“celebrity cage fighter”
That just about says it all.

I am not altogether sure of Mr Reid’s attraction however while there are silly cows to be milked by way of paying Mr Reid to take his kit off, then fair play to him.
I’d do it if there were the demand. I’d take my kit off for a few quid and free beer however my plan falls over when I inform I am not a cage fighter in fact I have never thought to fight a cage or a crate or even a large cardboard box or for that matter a large padded envelope.
He will probably earn more than most of us this year and earn it by working just a few nights a week albeit by way of fighting or posing or…………… whatever else he is good at.
Stripping may not be a long term career choice as eventually Mr Reid will lose his looks (He he he, I like that one!) and have to do something else. But as it stands today, he not drawing the dole and is happy to work nights. Good luck to him. I trust he’ll spend his income somewhat more sensibly than those who attend his shows.
That people will pay to see Mr Reid perform says more about them than it does about him.
I shall not sit next to the phone and wait for fortune to call.

Not a pretty sight either of them stripped and hawking their mutton, I imagine.

#15 Buskerman has it spot on.
Looking at the online seating plan, the show appears to be selling well.
There is also some merit in a show which may attract those not usually inclined to attend “live theatre”. Theatre is for all and this type of show may help to that end.
I’m doing my best to be positive.
