Fans asked to name Shrewsbury festival line-up
Saturday 24th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
Thousands of people will descend on Shrewsbury for a music festival when it returns for its second year in 2012 – with organisers asking fans to nominate the bands they would like to see.
The 2012 Shrewsbury Fields Forever Festival has been booked to take place from September 14 to 16 following the success of the inaugural event this year.
This year’s event attracted thousands of people to the Berwick Road showground in September to see acts including The Charlatans, Zane Lowe, Pendulum DJs, The Sunshine Underground and more.
For 2012, organisers have announced a new set-up, which will see the festival starting on the Friday night with a headline act, followed by music all day and evening on the Saturday.
The event will wind down on the Sunday and weekend campers will still be able to pitch up and enjoy the music with family and friends.
Festival organiser Dene Edwards, of Forever Invasion, said: “We really hope this festival grows and puts Shrewsbury on the map.
“Year-on-year we expect to see the crowds and activities grow and we hope the new festival timings will enable more people to come without taking time off work to recover from partying.
“We will be booking acts imminently and will announce the first acts in the New Year. In the meantime we are looking for sponsors or anyone who thinks they can help to make the 2012 Shrewsbury Fields Forever better than last year’s to get in touch.”
For 2012, organisers are asking for ideas on who people would really like to see coming to the heart of Shropshire to play at the festival. Fans can make recommendations by visiting www.shrewsburyfieldsforever.com and following the social media links or sending an email.
Mr Edwards added: “We’re asking for people to let us know who they would like to see. Hopefully we can make some wishes come true.”
