A primary school on the Shropshire/Mid Wales border which won £10,000 in the Shropshire Star’s Cash 4 Schools campaign has spent the money on new outdoor swing trails and classroom equipment.

The cash has been spent on improving technology at Churchstoke Primary School as well as improving outdoor facilities to help towards keeping the pupils’ fitness levels up.

The new equipment includes whiteboards in classrooms, laptops and a “trim trail” of ropes and swings on the school field.

Ian Roberts, headteacher at the school, said he was delighted to have won the cash in the competition and thanked the local community for collecting thousands of vouchers to win the money which has been invested in the school.

He said: “It was a wonderful campaign run by the Shropshire Star and the local community in Churchstoke has been so generous in collecting the vouchers for our school.
