Shrewsbury Folk Festival tickets are all sold out
Thursday 5th May 2011, 3:30PM BST.
Shrewsbury Folk Festival has sold out of tickets earlier than ever before, with organisers describing this year’s event as the most popular ever.
The event is widely recognised as one of the premier folk festivals in the UK and has seen regular sell-outs in advance of the festival.
But this year has seen an unprecedented run on tickets, with organisers saying the public response has “far exceeded expectations”.
The four-day event runs over the bank holiday weekend, August 26 to 29, at the Berwick Road showground.
Jo Cunningham, who is on the organising committee, said she received a text last night to say the festival had sold out.
She said: “It’s absolutely fantastic news, and we are all delighted. This is the earliest the event has ever sold out and it has far exceeded our expectations.”
About 5,000 people are expected to pack out the showground each day.
