Tickets went on sale today for a world famous music festival which attracts thousands of visitors to Bridgnorth each year.
The 18th English Haydn Festival will feature a line-up of top international performers.
And this year sees the world premiere of composer Woschitka’s C Major Cello Concerto by Russian cellist Pavel Serbin.
Woschitka was a cellist in Haydn’s orchestra and his piece of music was discovered in Russia.
The festival kicks-off on June 7, when a schools’ concert will be staged and will run until June 12.
Venues will include St Leonard’s Church in Bridgnorth, Acton Round Church, St Peter’s Church in Worfield and St Mary’s Church in Bridgnorth.
Mike Proudman, festival organiser, said: “People can expect top class performances. These are internationally-renowned musicians and a superb orchestra.”
The festival was founded in 1993 by John Reid, of Newport, who died in 2008 and had a real passion for Joseph Haydn’s music.
