The Red Arrows will again headline this year’s Cosford Air Show, organisers confirmed today.

Tickets have this week gone on sale for the show at the Shropshire air base – which will take place on June 12 – and organisers have promised a day of “wonder, excitement and entertainment”.

The highlight each year is a top flying display built around the regular appearance of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight of Lancaster bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane and the Red Arrows aerobatic team – both of which are already booked for this year.

The rest of the programme ranges from pre-war machines to the latest combat aircraft and last year featured the Harrier, which has now been retired from service following defence budget cuts.

And as well as the excitement in the air, the expected thousands of visitors will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of entertainment on the ground with a fun fair, craft fair, market and aircraft exhibitions – as well as entry to the RAF museum.

Tickets are £25 cash on the gate and £19 in advance.

The air show ticket line is 0871 230 1083.

How can we ever hope to build a better society when the authorities persist with this blatant warmongering event every year? This event really should be consigned to history.

You are talking absolute twaddle my friend. This is a great event that many people and families alike enjoy every year. nothing at all to do with warmongering and if you think that then I would hate to think of what you though of the scouts or brownies?

This event at Cosford is akin to the Communist era parades in Red Square. Thousands of people are dying in conflicts around the world, some of the conflicts we, as a nation, are actively involved in. That we parade our military might in this way considering these conflicts is sickening.

I have no gripes with scouts or brownies.

          Are you completley insane?
This is not a show of might like you may see in Red Square, it’s an airshow, plain and simple.
It’s people like you that would get a smack in the mouth down the local from a squaddie who just retuned from ops and heard you make these comments.
Please don’t shame yourself anymore, and wake up.

Smack in the mouth from a soldier for having an opinion?

It really is like Communist Russia in your world, isn’t it?

I agree with Harlod for once. Glorifying war is not something we should be spending hard earned tax payers money on. Who is paying for the petrol? You and me!
Apparently, people used to enjoy seeing lions eat people Athens and seeing people strangled in this country.
And Scouts and brownies do not fly supersonic war machines.

Get a grip…This is not glorifying war but merely displaying the skills of our Servicemen who endeavor to protect you and our Country. This event is funded by the revenue of the ticket sales and NOT the taxpayer.
