Shrewsbury Folk Festival’s added attractions

A series of off-site concerts, a car sharing scheme and a vast array of beers and ciders are among the newest attractions added to the line-up of Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

Organisers are keen to provide something for everyone at the annual event, which runs from August 27 to 30.

Tickets are selling fast for the festival at the County Showground, which features Afro Celt Sound System, Bellowhead, Cara Dillon, Billy Bragg, Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds and Richard Shindell.

Event spokeswoman Jo Cunningham said there were plenty of events and activities to keep people amused.

An off-site concert series was planned for The Hive, at Belmont, during autumn and winter with one event per month.

Jackie Oates will play on September 19, Crooked Still will headline on October 24, Kris Drever, John McCusker and Donald Shaw will star on November 21, Bella Hardy will line-up on December 12 and Jez Lowe will feature on January 9.

Meanwhile, the festival is encouraging visitors to behave in an environmentally-responsible manner by signing up for a car share scheme.
