Fans of musicals and comedy should get themselves to Theatre Severn in the next few days for the fantastic A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Shrewsbury-based Mad Cow Productions’ version of the Sondheim show is a treat from start to finish.

It features a group of incredibly talented actors, dancers and singers in both lead and supporting roles.

It would be difficult to find a weak link in the cast and Alisdair Hinton should be congratulated for his brilliant performance as Pseudolus.

Robert Hinton as Hysterium and Sean Cloak as Miles Gloriosus were also hysterically funny.

The show is largely a comic farce that demands a high level of energy from the performers. The pace was well-maintained and the dancing was always energetic.

The performance flowed well with a brilliantly-directed comic sequence in the second half being the highlight.

The show also looked fantastic with beautiful sets and costumes. Get hold of a ticket if you can.
