Telford Debenhams to create Christmas jobs
Monday 10th October 2011, 4:53PM BST.
Bosses at Debenhams in Telford this afternoon announced plans to create 45 extra jobs over the Christmas period.
The town centre store said it needed the extra workers to cope with increased demand from festive shoppers. Successful candidates will take up the posts from mid-November until the beginning of January.
Some workers will also gain permanent employment after the Christmas period.
Debenhams chief executive Michael Sharp said: “These jobs are sure to be welcomed by local economies during the most financially challenging part of the year.
“Approximately a quarter of staff that work with us over the festive season will stay on in permanent roles, making this a crucial period in our employment calendar.”
Across the country the store will employ about 6,500 Christmas temps.
Debenhams is recruiting directly through its website and previous retail experience is not essential.
