Ludlow care home on ‘best list’ for apprentices
Monday 11th July 2011, 11:34AM BST.
Bosses of a south Shropshire care home have been named on a list of Britain’s top 100 employers of apprentices, in a competition entered by 90,000 firms across the country.
Hendra Healthcare, which has trained 22 employees at Hendra House in Ludlow, was praised by expert judges at The National Apprenticeship Awards.
Company owner Vince Burmingham said it was a great honour to be on a list which includes firms such as Rolls-Royce, British Aerospace and Bentley Motors.
Mr Burmingham said: “It’s nice to be recognised alongside such well-known British companies and it is good for us, Ludlow and Shropshire to get awards like this.
“We have currently got six apprentices working here and are just about to take on five more. So far 22 have come through our apprenticeship scheme and we are very pleased with what it offers our business.
“It means we can start with raw talent and shape it into exactly what we want for our needs.”
The award was presented to the company at a reception in London attended by 400 guests, including Skills Minister John Hayes.
Hendra House this year won the Best Apprentice Employer title at the Shropshire Business Awards.
