Powys councillors urged to demand say on schools
Monday 3rd October 2011, 12:54PM BST.
Councillors in Powys will today be asked to have the ‘courage’ to demand that every one of them has their say on the future of the county’s secondary schools.
Powys County Council members will vote today on whether a decision on secondary modernisation proposals will be voted on by the entire council or the 10 member cabinet.
The vote has been called by the Conservatives and the Shire Independents, with the administration, a coalition of the Powys Independents and the Liberal Democrats expected to support their cabinet in opposing the motion.
The plan for the cabinet to vote has been criticised by campaigners who say it is undemocratic.
