Oswestry’s Marches School becomes an academy
Tuesday 6th September 2011, 8:00PM BST.
A secondary school began a new chapter today when it opened its doors for the autumn term as an academy.
Oswestry’s Marches School is the first in the Shropshire education authority to be granted academy status. It means the school is now responsible for its own budget.
Head of the school Sarah Longville said the education, achievement and wellbeing of its pupils would remain The Marches’ primary aim.
“We are once again trailblazing; the school is the first school in Shropshire to convert to Academy Status. We are a confident, forward thinking school community that believes we can use the autonomy that academy status will bring to benefit our students and our local community.”
