So sorry to read of this. Shrewsbury Technical College as it was called in my days – 1944 – 1947 was a great place. Why now when it is going to be almost impossible for most teenagers to attend university. Sad. Do hope it does not happen. Joyce Oxlade (nee Jones)

I have found Wakeman School to be an excellent school for my two grand-daughters, they are both doing very well academically and have made marvellous progress in music at the school. The skill and dedication of the music and arts staff is to be greatly admired an the results they obtain are outstanding.
It would be folly to close this medium sized school and redirect pupils to a much lager school where the pupils talents could easily go unfostered.
The school needs support in doing the work it does so well not carping criticism : the uncertainty about the school’s future created by the education authority is probably more damaging than anything else and is grossly unfair.mb

Nice real estate. The new Shropshire Council will attempt to do what Shrewsbury and Atcham did when they last tried to close the Wakeman School, they will size it up as Council offices, mark my words. This is the HOW campaign over again and the only way to fight it is to be as verbal and in there face as possible , an old saying he who shouts loudest,be a pain in the backside, get your MP on board, put posters up around the town get central news to cover it from the angle we went through this over twenty yrs ago. Go to Parliament, but only if you trully believe that the Wakeman School is worth saving.
We did it all those yrs ago falling numbers and all that. As a member of HOW Hands of Wakeman I can honestly say we worked hard and achieved the aim to keep the school open. Good luck it will be a hard fight this time.

The football teams twenty odd yrs ago some of the best in Shropshire… Come on you now old pupils now moms and dads its your turn to have a say.

Lets mobilise and take this campaign right to the council. As many as possible need to be at the next full council meeting. This a great school, don’t let it slip away. I know there’s a lot of campaigns to save public services running across Shropshire right now but this ones really important. Another case of democracy Not in action.
