MP to meet parents over Ludlow area school closures
Tuesday 8th February 2011, 4:47PM GMT.
Ludlow MP Philip Dunne will meet the headteachers and parents from five threatened schools in his constituency.
The schools facing possible closure are Barrow, Hopton Wafers, Stiperstones, Onny (Onibury) and Lydbury North.
Mr Dunne said: “I am concerned to see that half of the proposed school closures are in the Ludlow constituency.
“I recognise the challenge the council faces regarding school numbers but I am arranging to meet governors, headteachers and concerned parents at each of the schools during the consultation period to marshall arguments in their support.”
He will also discuss with Shropshire Council, planned changes to the national funding formula for schools next year.

I hope he sticks to his guns. Hopton Wafers, Lydbury North and Onny each pull middle class pupils and money out nearby town schools.
