So, the Battle of the Bands’ finals night is upon us. It’s been a long time coming.
The five unsigned bands who will fight it out for prizes in the final of the Shropshire Star Battle of the Bands 2009 have been unveiled.
After spending the best part of two years perfecting their art and playing countless gigs around the Shropshire area, Decadence in Berlin decided to record their first demo, and in March 2009 they recorded 3 tracks with Ben Millington of NewBreed fame at the Smash Rooms, Ketley.
Formed as recently as early 2008, Mitsu’s Run spent their first 6 months holed up in the Ex-servicemen’s club in Oswestry.
Run Fast Turn Left started life in late 2006 originally as a side project but quickly becoming bigger and bigger the band felt themselves devoting more and more time to the band.
Wooden Boy are fresh out of Leeders farm studios (www.leedersfarm.co.uk), where they have been working with Andy Blackburn, and Nick Brine (oasis, The Darkness, The Stone Gods) on there highly anticipated debut E.P.
Callebra are a Shropshire-based fourpiece whose diverse musical loves have combined to create their unique and memorable sound.
Deco, who based in Shrewsbury, are aiming at the creation of Art Rock albums, combining their influences Radiohead & Portishead, with the more mainstream edge of a heavy Placebo influence.
For a band of mildly disorganised twenty-somethings, The Jackdaws are a pretty determined and resilient bunch.
