Still on cloud nine after being voted ‘The Best one-day Agricultural Show in the UK" the organisers of Burwarton Show in Shropshire are not going to rest on their laurels.
The expansion of the Livestock area last year saw sheep entries rise to a record 1,200 with cattle entries from as far away as Yorkshire. This year the ‘Any breed beef’ classes will be split into separate Native and Continental breeds. Shearing is being expanded with competitive classes for YFC, Junior and Intermediate - shearing Texel-cross lambs which normally graze the Show fields.
This year Wendy Scudamore will be bringing her “Dancing Pigs” to perform over an obstacle course at the completion of judging.
Trade stand space was booked by the end of March and there are now some 50 or so traders on the waiting list.
The show was voted top local one days show by Farmers Guardian readers.
