YFC take to the water to raise funds for charity
Monday 19th September 2011, 4:29PM BST.
Shropshire YFC have asked each of their 19 Club to take part in a Canoeing Challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
“The response from members has been brilliant as this disease effects so many people,” said Lucy Stokes, Shropshire YFC county chairman.
“Most Clubs are taking part and have committed to getting a boat down the Severn through the length of Shropshire.”
The challenge starts on September 24 at Melverley Bridge and finishes in Bewdley on September 25.
Members will work as a relay team getting the boat down the 70 mile stretch of the Severn. Over 80 members have agreed to take part and are currently busily getting in sponsorship.
If anyone would like to donate money they can go to www.justgiving.com/SFYFC-Canoeing-Challenge.
