Domestic and global market opportunities for beef and lamb will come under the spotlight at this year’s EBLEX annual conference.

EBLEX, the organisation for beef and sheep industry in England, will host the conference on November 2nd at the Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth, bringing together stakeholders and levy payers to discuss key issues and how to capitalise on trade opportunities.

Sector director Nick Allen, head of trade development Peter Hardwick, and EBLEX board member and Blade Farming managing director Richard Phelps, will look at ensuring the domestic market remains buoyant and the longer term global prospects for beef and lamb.

The role of red meat in the diet will be highlighted by Professor Robert Pickard, of the Meat Advisory Panel and former chairman the Forum for the Royal Society for Public Health and the Department of Health. Irish Farmers Journal livestock editor Justin McCarthy will outline the Irish perspective on beef and lamb production.

The conference, free to EBLEX levy payers, will also include question and answer sessions, with EBLEX staff on hand to discuss technical issues and demonstrate other aspects of the organisation’s work.

Dr Phil Hadley, EBLEX senior regional manager, said: “Our annual conference is the chance for people throughout the sector to get together and discuss wider industry issues. We’ve put together a great programme which delegates will find interesting, enjoyable and informative.”
