Farm manager shortlisted for prestigious farming award

Monday 22nd August 2011, 4:51PM BST.

Walford and North Shropshire College’s farm manager Neil Ridgway  has been shortlisted for the prestigious Dairy Farmer of the Future Award.

Since being appointed as Walford Farm Manager in November 2010, Neil has already had an impact on the College herd.

The cows are visibly in better condition, more settled and producing more milk more efficiently.

Neil studied Agriculture at Walford (as did his father). He showed a real flair for dairy management and spent the middle year of his National Diploma course working in New Zealand. Prior to joining the College as farm manger Neil was herd manager of the respected Blodwell pedigree Jersey herd, based at Blodwell Hall, Porth Y Waen, Oswestry.
