Crops and machinery on show at open day

Monday 6th June 2011, 1:55PM BST.

Market Drayton based BCW, specialists in Crop Production, Animal Health and Seeds, have teamed up with Massey Ferguson, Fendt and Challenger dealership RVW Pugh Ltd for an open evening advising on the best machinery, cereal varieties and agronomy advice for arable customers.

Courtesy of Tony Sheppard, the event will be held at Heightley, Chirbury, Powys SY15 6BW on June 28 from 5.30pm and running into the evening.

RVW Pugh Ltd will have the best machinery for the arable farmer including the latest RoGator 600 series self propelled sprayer from Challenger.  The RoGator 600 has already impressed farmers in the Welshpool area, with the model on show belonging to AM Jones, Court Calmore, Montgomery.

The current EIMA tractor of the year the Fendt 800 series plus Massey Ferguson tractors from the 6400 and 7400 series will also be on show.

There will be tracked machinery from Challenger, perfect for the large scale arable farmer because of their massive output coupled with minimal soil compaction plus the latest GPS guidance and auto-steering equipment from Topcon.

BCW will be demonstrating its extensive agronomy experience with a series of plots and field trials showcasing the latest cereal varieties and agronomy to maximise yields.  There will be 30 different cereal varieties on show, allowing side by side comparison and discussion.

In addition, BCW also have Hystar hybrid wheat on show.  With more vigorous and efficient rooting, Hystar performs well in those more difficult fields, offering the opportunity to bring more marginal land in to profitable production.

BCW will also be demonstrating the very latest SDHi fungicide, with advice on where, how and when to use this new technology to maximise return. The open evening will also feature trace element work aimed at improving plant health, increasing Nitrogen utilisation and reducing your N inputs.
