The President of the National Farmers' Union, Meurig Raymond, is set to attend the event on Sunday when the show reaches its spectacular finale with the Supreme Champion named by judges.

More than 400 cattle from across the UK have been entered in to the two-day event which gets underway at 8.30am this Saturday, 19 November.

Over 150 pens of sheep and 46 pig pens have also been booked.

Richard Williams, CEO of the Staffordshire & Birmingham Agricultural Society, said: "The stage is set and we are looking forward to another fantastic English Winter Fair. We are delighted to welcome Mr Raymond to the event, and there will be much for him to see and talk about with the visitors and exhibitors attending.

"The livestock judging is a big draw for farmers, but the Fair has also become known for its diversity.

"We have some of the country's best butchers and farm shops competing to win prizes for their sausages, bacon and pies.

"There is also a full range of agricultural trade exhibitors attending, and a Country Fair."

An end-of-show auction will see livestock as well as beef, pork, lamb, turkey and geese carcasses sold off in a live auction hosted by Bagshaws.

Tickets are £10 on the gate and the car park opens at 8am.
