Contract farming opportunity at Newport

Published

A contract farming opportunity has arisen in East Shropshire following farmer Philip Bloor's decision to quit milking and reorganise his farming business.

Moreton Hall Farm, Moreton, Newport is available for tender through Berrys for an initial period of one year with the possibility of a further period of up to three years.

The land extends to approximately 181.23 acres (73.34 hectares) including 137.40 acres of arable ground and 43.82 acres of grassland. There is also a range of modern dairy buildings.

The arable land is offered under a contract farming agreement with potato cropping to be considered under a separate agreement. Grassland is available under a standard herbage agreement and the buildings are available under tenancy.

"We are delighted to offer Moreton Hall Farm for tender," said Mark Morison of Berrys at Shrewsbury.

"This excellent contract farming opportunity has become available because the farmer Philip

Bloor has decided to cease milk production and reorganise the farm business arrangements.

"The land is in excellent heart and is classified as grade 2 and 3. The soil predominantly is Clifton, a slowly permeable fine loamy soil suitable for cereals and grassland and good for potatoes in some areas."

The property is available as a whole or in three lots as required:

Lot 1: approximately 137.40 acres of arable land of which up to 30 per cent of the arable holding is available for potatoes in any one year.

Lot 2: approximately 43.82 acres of grassland of which 11.95 acres is part of an Entry Level Stewardship agreement required to remain as low input grassland until April 2016. Lot 3: farm buildings including loose housing, cow kennels, pole barn, slurry store, silage clamps.

A viewing day will be held on Friday, September 18th between 12 noon and 5pm.

"Interested farmers should register their interest with us providing full contact details and tenders must be submitted using the tender form provided and returned to Berrys by 5pm, September 25, 2015," Mark said.

All tenders must be submitted to Berrys, Willow House East, Shrewsbury Business Park, Shrewsbury, SY2 6LG or by email to mark.morison@berrybros.com.
