A major employer from the Mid Wales is to close its centre in the region and move its operations to Wrexham.

Vehicle parts producers Cobra UK, based in the Buttington Cross Enterprise Park, Welshpool, has announced that it will be closing its Welshpool production centre at the end of April and relocate to Wrexham after landing a £12 million contract with Vauxhall Motors.

All of the 49 staff based at Welshpool have been offered positions at the new Wrexham site which opened earlier this year to start production of high volume vehicle interior load floors for the new Vauxhall Astra.

Gary Seale, managing director, said: “All of our Welshpool staff have been offered roles at the new Wrexham site. We wanted a bigger premises and unfortunately there is nothing in the Welshpool area that meets our requirements.”
