HSBC bank is closing in Ellesmere

A market town’s bank was closing today after becoming the latest victim of changes in banking habits.
HSBC was set to close its Ellesmere branch. The banking giant said many customers were now using banks differently with the rise of internet and telephone banking plus a rise in people using bigger branches near their work.
Campaigners say the trend is putting more rural branches at risk of closure due to reduced footfall. People in Ellesmere said they felt sad at losing the facility.
