Proposal for Ellesmere wharf triggers warning
Wednesday 17th August 2011, 11:19AM BST.
A multi-million pound development to transform a derelict wharf into a residential and commercial centre could cause traffic chaos, a business leader has warned.
The scheme for the Wharf in Ellesmere includes creating 300 homes, a public square, car parking, a pub and restaurant, retirement apartments and extended nature reserve.
But Lincoln McMullan, chairman of Ellesmere Chamber of Commerce, today warned developers to think seriously about improving roads in the area before building work starts.
He has suggested creating a new exit from the site to avoid traffic congestion.
Mr McMullan said: “The road infrastructure is something that definitely needs to be looked at by the developers before they start any building work.”
