Tenbury Wells Tesco protesters in Plan B plea

Campaigners aiming to stop Tesco’s multi-million pound bid for a new store in Tenbury Wells will tonight plead with councillors to support their alternative plan for the former Cattle Market site.

Tenbury Town Council has set aside time to give a response to Tenbury Future’s “Plan B” scheme at tonight’s meeting, at 7.15pm in the Pump Rooms in Teme Street.

The presentation of our PLAN B to the Town Council was well received. Additionally there was some discussion about another idea that was sent to Tenbury Futures – that of a new additional modern Teme Bridge that ran through the town’s disputed Cattle Market site.

This has clearly generated much interest as many locals and shopkeepers believe that a new bridge will guarantee access to the town for commerce and visitors and invest in it’s future vitality.

The existing Teme Bridge is to be closed for weeks and/or possibly months in 2012. As it’s the main artery into the town this proposal has raised substantial concerns with local business and residents alike.

Tenbury Futures is a group of concerned residents and local businesses from the Tenbury area. For more details on our thinking and proposals see our website at:
