Aga sees profits soar during 2010

Friday 11th March 2011, 11:29AM GMT.

Profits at Shropshire cooker manufacturer Aga soared during 2010 as the firm bounced back after a slump in the previous two years.

Aga, which makes its iconic cast iron cookers at Coalbrookdale and has its offices in Ketley, Telford, released its full year results today, showing an increase in sales over the past year.

They show that operating profit for the year was £5.1 million, much improved from the loss of £1.5 million reported in 2009. Group revenues increased by 5.8 per cent to £259.1 million from £245 million in 2009.

And profit before tax rocketed to £19.9 million from £0.5 million the year before, though £16.3 million of that was down to a one-off gain after the firm froze final salaries in the pension scheme.
