Free workshop for Shropshire firms on Olympic opportunities
Tuesday 18th January 2011, 10:39AM GMT.
Businesses in Shropshire are being invited to a free workshop looking at opportunities from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The session, on January 27, at Shropshire Council’s Westgate offices in Ludlow Road, Bridgnorth, 9.30am to 12.30pm, will look at various different opportunities arising from the games.
These will include goods and services being purchased by London 2012 now and over the next two years including food and drink, and the main route to accessing these tenders, CompeteFor.com.
The event will also cover additional business opportunities related to London 2012, such as the host boroughs surrounding the Olympic Park, Stratford City, the biggest shopping centre in the UK, being built next to the Olympic Park, and local opportunities in Shropshire such as those generated by the interest in the influence of the Wenlock Olympian Games in Olympic history.
Opportunities after the Games are over, the legacy of the Olympics, and specialised help, advice and support for businesses such as free, monthly 2012 sector briefings will also be on the agenda.
