Monday 17th May 2010, 12:47PM BST.
The Shropshire Business Awards 2010 is gearing up to be the biggest and best event ever held to celebrate the county’s achievements.
More than 800 tickets have been sold for the glittering black-tie ceremony on June 4 at the Telford’s International Centre.
Organised by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, with the Shropshire Star, the awards night will have a World Cup theme to link in with the football tournament which starts a week later.
Chamber bosses this week announced two new sponsors for the awards which saw the three finalists in all nine categories visited by judges last week.
Business Link West Midlands is sponsoring the Technology, Enterprise and Innovation award, with Telford’s Denso coming on board to sponsor the Best Employer category.
Headline sponsors
The headline sponsors are Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council, with other sponsors including The Wrekin Housing Trust, Shrewsbury printing company BPG, Severnside Housing, UK Trade and Industry and Muller Dairy.
In recognition of the tenth anniversary of the awards, there will be a special Champion of Champions category for previous Company of the Year winners, the three finalists vying for the title are McConnel of Ludlow, Telford’s Lyreco and SmartWater, also in Telford.
Battling out for the 2010 Company of the Year title are Telford’s e-know.net, Shropshire Homes and McPhillips Wellington.
Richard Sheehan, managing director of Shropshire Chamber, said: “We are looking forward to what we know will be a great evening, showcasing the best of Shropshire business.
