Star Idea finalist Heather Williams is passionate about her produce and her business. Working from her Shrewsbury home, she set up Heather’s Harvest, creating chutneys, jams and preserves – and now the company is starting to grow at an exciting rate. Watch the video and cast your vote below.
Already an award-winner for her spiced carrot chutney, tried by the Star Idea Dragons in the judging chamber, Heather has provided a hamper to Fortnum & Mason and will be catering for Sir Richard Branson this summer.
There are currently 40 outlets stocking Heather’s produce, but this is planned to expand to 60 by the end of 2010 and 120 in the following year.
Heather told the judges: “Flavour is my unique selling point, all the produce is fresh and some of it comes from my mother’s orchard. It is a pure product and once people try it, they buy it.
”The company is looking to scoop the Star Idea prize of £4,000 which Heather says will give a vital cash injection allowing her to buy a catering fridge, an industrial food processor, buy jars in bulk and promote her business more widely.
Her entry said: “The work is beginning to be difficult for one person alone to contend with. My strengths are in the making and selling of my products.”Heather told the judging panel that she was investigating the possibility of outsourcing the manufacture of her products, strictly to her own recipes.”
“The Star Idea award would be incredible in both the terms of cash injection and publicity it would generate,” she added.
