Storbord allows the user to hang and organise a multitude of tools, accessories and odds and ends on a one-piece panel with a unique feature of having all the hooks preformed in the main body.

The Llandinam-based former mechanical engineer and managing director of a family engineering business says Storbord offers a superior package, with its simplicity of use, presentation and cost, compared to other traditional peg-board systems.

Storbord is being manufactured by local companies and Glyn sees his route to market as selling to independent and multi-branch retailers as well as online sales.

The product is currently on sale in Charlie’s stores, Morgan’s and Boys & Boden have taken their first trial orders, and if Glyn clinched the £4,000 prize, it would go to developing bespoke designs, extending the range, tooling and marketing.

He told the judges: “The viability of Storbord is dependent on volume sales and initial costing suggests that I need to sell a minimum of 10,000 panels a year.“As every home or industry has a storage requirement, the national and global market for this product is vast. I see its style, function and selling price as its strengths in gaining a hold in this large market.”

Glyn said Storbord’s production costs are lower than other systems, making it affordable to a new sector of the market.
