Blog: The long break didn’t do Town any favours after we picked up a disappointing home draw at the weekend, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.

Some teams return from a break refreshed and raring to go, while others lose momentum and produce a rusty display.

Despite having plenty of the ball against Cheltenham, you could tell we hadn’t played competitively for a while. Injuries to Disley and Tutte didn’t help matters and the sooner we get our first team back on the field the better.

On the plus side we showed a lot of determination to get back into the game after falling behind and yet again Bradshaw popped up in the right place to grab a late equaliser.

In his Town career so far he has had a fantastic habit of grabbing important goals, which bodes well for the future.

A special word must go to Mark Wright after he was named player of the month for November. His goals and creativity have been vital so far this season and if he can maintain it for the rest of the campaign we should be there or there abouts come the spring.

Can fans remember the last Town player to pick up a player of the month award?

Despite the result, Town still boast an unbeaten home record in the league this season, although four draws is too many for a team seeking promotion. Also, Cheltenham proved to be no mugs and are challenging for a play-off position themselves.

Following the weekend’s disappointing result Town will be hoping to return to winning ways with a tough away game at Oxford on Saturday.

Oxford have had a inconsistent season so far, but have in their ranks a certain James Constable who will be hoping to get one over on his former side.

Town should take a lot of confidence, however, from the fact that Oxford have lost five games at home in the league so far this season.

    James,

I am guessing the answer would be a certain Grant Holt for player of the month?

Lucky to get a point but at least they kept having ago but really should have taken their chances in the first five minutes when on top.

Oxford will be a tricky game away and I dont think we have lost at their ground.

    You Blues.
