Telly Talk: Daybreak – have you had your say?

Telly Talk: Finally and about time too. This week reports have surfaced that bosses at Daybreak, or Daybroken as we now like to affectionately call it, are to ask viewers what they think, writes Tracey O’Sullivan.

While you have to wonder why they have to ask when the world and his wife could tell them, at least this is to be an official poll of opinion.

They are to send out surveys to a selected number of viewers and among the questions will be what they think of the banter between the two main hosts, Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley.

Now of course it’s embarrassing for the pair, who will also be rated out of ten, but, really, it has to be done and before they go about changing the format – if that is the plan.

But they should have asked their audience in the first place  – that way we might have avoided all this trouble and dear old grumps and his grinning sidekick could have been saved from this dose of humiliation, cellulite and extra pounds.

Yes, apparently Christine is moaning that the extra caffeine she needs to cope with the early starts is boosting that orange peel effect which women hate, while Adrian claims he is piling on the pounds.

Either it’s the symapthy vote they are after or Christine has realised that in the morning harrassed housewives want someone they feel comfortable with, rather than a glamorous WAG who makes them feel more slummy than yummy mummy.

And admitting to the physical feature that plagues every woman is one way to do it. But she may have to own up to a few more flaws before viewers take her to their hearts. This morning, dressed all in black, it looked as if she was in mourning – some kind of hint there Christine?

After this, fans will have an even softer spot for the Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway partnership, particularly after Dan’s excellent and extremely amusing interview with David Beckham in which he teased him like an old pal. The snippet, earlier this week, boosted viewing figures to almost 800,000 from a low of 500,000.

You don’t need a survey to see which way this programme needs to go.

Massively over rated presenters. Adrian Chiles can hardly read the autocue. His announcements lack flow and any necessary scene setting quality. Bleakley thinks that giggling throuout is what the viewers want to see. In the morning viewers expect a different approach to current affairs and articles than in the evening. The fundamentals have to be right. This show should be axed asap and replaced by one in which the presenters are focused on the viewers and not their own pockets.

I like Daybreak. It started slow, but it’s brilliant. now. I love the features, the pace and the presenters. I can’t understand why people knock it, it’s ace compared to the BBC, which is boring. Wakes me up in the morning.

The reason we don’t like you is beacuse you are unprofessional Christine laughs at things when she dose not know what to do or say which is often she is uncomfortable to watch you can’t hear what she is saying she can not relate to her viweing audiance their “relationship” is obvious to see that it is more than professions touching and the touching of guests invading their personal space like she is freinds with her guests the pulling of Nadine Colyes hand nearly ripping it off showing her emgagement ring was out of order it was about her record not her private life lauging at mental disorders the list is endless it is more than embarrasing she only got the job as she is with a high profile “boyfirend” whom has worked for her for now in gaing the job in the first place it is obvious that she is less than capable of doing the job give it up and listen to your viewers

you might be interested to know that “Daybreak”, have started to ban people from the website, if they make negative or critical comments, even constructive ones !!
I am one of those, i have never used a swear word, yet people who say they love daybreak have used terrible swearwords, against people who don’t, and they and their comments are still on there. So much for democracy and free speech.

I want to comment on the girls going out drinking in newcastle with no coats. People from up here are not stupid, and are used with the cold. Most presenters think manchester is next to scotland. We do exsit up here in newcastle. we do work hard in all weathers. not like south of manchester. snow in london one day this year and london closes.
Instead of putting people from newcastle down all the time presenters should watch what they say. The ammount of times you here people say about people from newcastle living in council houses and not working it is ridiculous. most of us do work hard in all weathers.
