Blog: Not pretty, but Shrewsbury Town end poor results run

Blog: It wasn’t pretty but fans won’t care as Town ended their poor run of results on Saturday, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.
Town’s 2-0 win over Lincoln will not go down as one of our best performances, but fans will just be relieved to get back to winning ways.
We need to beat teams like Lincoln, especially at home, if we are serious about promotion and it was also important to keep a clean sheet.
Two well-taken goals by the impressive Robinson and Wright were enough for victory. It may sound picky, but Town’s goals are coming from the same players this season, which is all well and good when they are fit and playing, but what happens if they get injured?
Harrold provides a lot for the team, but a few more goals from him wouldn’t go amiss, as well as from the likes of Ainsworth and Disley.
In transfer news, Town look to have missed out on Crewe striker Calvin Zola after both parties failed to agree terms.
He would have been a great asset to our squad and provided some competition upfront, but I don’t agree with paying over the odds for a player and it sounds to me like he was just being greedy.
Turner will need to turn his attention elsewhere for new players after realising our squad needs some fresh faces.
Unfortunately once a season has started a lot of clubs are very reluctant to release their best players so we may have to end up looking at younger players from clubs in the higher leagues.
Now Town have ended their poor run they need to take confidence from the Lincoln game and start to improve their away form, which has let them down of late.
Unfortunately next up is a very tricky visit to table-toppers Chesterfield on Saturday who are unbeaten at home and have scored an impressive 18 goals in six games there.
Town will need to be at their best, but should look at it as a perfect chance to show the rest of the division they can compete with the best and are serious about promotion.
