Teen blog: Abstinence is best contraception

Teenage blogger Liam Thomas offers his thoughts on life in Shropshire from a young person’s point-of-view.
Blog: I was in college the other day, when I heard talk about a person giving out free condoms in the town centre.
I think this is absolutely absurd.
Hearing about this got me thinking about the state that our society is in. Now, call me old fashioned, but I think that we should adopt a no sex before marriage approach to life – and, yes, I believe in marriage, too. But, being 17, I’m in the minority with this viewpoint.
Have you heard of the CDS (Condom Distribution Service)? It’s not only available to students in college but in secondary schools too. Isn’t this a step too far?
Surely people have enough willpower to wait before they do the deed?
I know how contraception prevents STIs, STDs, and unwanted pregnancies, but condoms are not 100 per cent foolproof.
The only way to prevent the STIs, STDs and pregnancies is by just not having sex in the first place.
