Blog: While the club versus country debate rarely involves a Conference North side – thin on the ground as they tend to be with international players – tomorrow night AFC Telford United go up against England and the rest, writes Alex James.

The Bucks face Buxton in a crucial FA Cup third qualifying round reply on Tuesday, with England facing Montenegro in a European Championship Qualifier.

That leaves fans with a choice – do they sit in front of the box and watch their country? Or brave the elements and head to the New Bucks Head to watch their club?

With Telford averaging more than 2,000 fans for home games this season it would be great to see as many fans as possible make the Buxton tie. After all, it is the FA Cup.

And the apathy towards the national team may play a part in swelling the numbers.

Montenegro at home is hardly a glamour tie – even by England’s lowered expectations since their World Cup exit – and the fans disinterested in the national team could do worse than turn up at Telford.

The Bucks are still unbeaten this season and a win tomorrow night would put them on the brink of the first round proper and the chance to tackle a league club.

It’s the perfect chance to give the Ferdinands, Terrys and Rooneys a miss and come and check out the Killocks, Trainers and Browns instead.

The FA Cup is the one competition that seems exempt to all that’s wrong with football – the commercialism and the money – and is all about ‘proper’ football.

The kind you used to play as a kid, jumpers for goalposts and all that.

Tomorrow night could be the start of another famous Telford FA Cup run, unless Buxton spoil the party of course.
