Blog: Can a Hollywood hero save the sinking SS Daybreak?

Blog: Oh please let it be true – the trailers have promised Ben Affleck on the Daybreak sofa next week.
Now if there is one reason to put up with Po and La La – okay Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley – it’s Benny boy. A bit of eye candy could do wonders for viewers who have lost all hope.
The actor and half-decent director may just save the dozy duo from being dropped from a great height.
If the rumours are true the Daybreak studio is in turmoil, with backroom staff living in a climate of fear and all kinds of in-fighting going on. No surprises there. But the only ones safe in their jobs are those proving to be the biggest disappointment – Adrian and Christine. While they not be able to give them the sack, bosses are still sticking the boot in.
The pair are said to be taking the disaster that is Daybreak out on each other, while those desperately trying to get it right have told them to get even cosier on the sofa. Big mistake.
They’re sitting so close these days even daylight couldn’t squeeze through the gap. Honestly, when something is broke you should fix it, not just keep plugging away at it.
The Adrian and Christine act is one step too far for morning audiences. Get a new sofa or, even better, a new studio. Put some distance between them and now they have been taken down a peg or two they might have some hope of hitting on the right formula.
Although I would sack the stylist. I really thought Christine would wow or at least turn a few heads with her outfits – she is a WAG these days – but they have been pretty bland so far. At least if she had stepped it up in the clothes department it would have made up for that incessant grinning and lack of ability to conduct an interview on her own.
It’s no wonder bosses have reached for the A-list and Mr Affleck. The question is, will it do any good or is it too late to stop those determined few left tuning in from finally switching off?

Who is Ben Affleck?
What about inviting Flash Gordon on to the programme, after saving the world from financial disaster it should be like a walk in the park for him to spice up these failing presenters.

This pair have proved to be a predictable disaster. Ok the revamped set is pretty, but the cosing up on the sofa, and constant party atmosphere is irritating to say the least.I have given the prog a good go, but have reluctantly turned to the BBC as the lesser of 2 evils.
What I can’t understand is, it took several years before GMTV found an acceptable cohesive team who worked well together – so what were they thinking changing it ?
