So it’s started – my summer with the World Cup, writes World Cup Widow Tracey O’Sullivan.

And already I’ve bagged my first hat-trick for my self-coined band of Wiji – loved the opening ceremony, the South African goal celebration dance and the small matter of appearing on the BBC to talk about it!

It hasn’t been all good though. I’ll have to cry foul at last night’s France v Uruguay game though – not anywhere near as much fun as the opener and reminded me why I normally avoid watching football at all costs.

But let’s not forget this is all about seeing if I can get hooked and there’s plenty of time for that yet.

While sat in the Green Room at the BBC in London waiting for my slot, Junior Apprentice winner Arjun Rajyagor certainly thinks I might get addicted any time soon.

He was among the guests waiting to be interviewed by the breakfast team, alongside CBE Prue Leith.

The BBC was fascinated by my social experiment and, if I’m honest, a little bewildered, that a non-football fan like me would spend a month in front of the box cheering on teams I’ve never even heard of playing a game I don’t understand.

But if all else fails I shall follow the advice of the make-up lady who urged me to “just check out the eye candy”.

At least tonight it’s a match which is easy to get excited about.

Everybody needs to get behind Capello’s crusaders and I definitely need them to go as far as they can to help me resist the urge to grab the remote or head to the shops.
