Memories of open-air swim fun
Come in, the water’s lovely. Pupils at Phoenix School, Dawley, used to be able to enjoy a rarity among Shropshire schools - an outdoor swimming pool.
Swans aim to escape floods
“Can I come in?” A couple of swans seem to be in conversation with a little boy at 122 Frankwell, Shrewsbury, during the great floods which hit the town just after the war.
Meal on Wheels handover

Lovers of old cars will probably have little trouble narrowing down the date of this photo of Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury. It looks to be about the mid-1950s.
Opencast coal mining concern
Folk in the Little Wenlock area are a bit het up at the moment about proposals for opencast coal mining at nearby New Works. There is quite a history of opencast mining in the area, as this picture shows.
Busy river scenes during regatta
