Market Drayton Town FCFormer boss Simon Line was today on the brink of a sensational return to Market Drayton Town.

It is understood Line, Shropshire’s most successful non-League manager of recent years, is close to returning to the club he left in October to take over at Hednesford Town.

Officials of the UniBond League club were today remaining tight-lipped over the potential return of their ex-boss.

But it is understood the move was agreed in principle at a regular monthly committee meeting last night.

It isn’t clear whether Line – who left Hednesford two weeks ago – will return in sole charge or whether Andy Pryce, who was originally given the manager’s job until the end of the season, will form part of the new-look team.

Former Crystal Palace player Line quit Drayton at the start of the October to take over at Hednesford after five years in charge. That sparked a frantic period of upheaval at Drayton who have had three managers – Lee Roberts, Matt Burton and Pryce – since October.
