The Count met the ‘King of the Ring’ as two world champions collided.

Shropshire darts ace Ted Hankey took to the oche for a special exhibition match against boxing’s rising star Amir Khan.

Telford-based Hankey has won two BDO World titles, his second coming at Frimley Green earlier this year.

And Khan – who recently won the WBA Championship belt after defeating Ukranian Andreas Kotelnik – was no match for Hankey on the dartboard who cruised to an easy victory over the Bolton puncher.

“It was a terrific day and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Amir, who is a big darts fan and a really great guy,” said Hankey, who used to play for SHropshire in the BDO inter-counties championship.

“I think Amir may want a rematch and as long it’s on the oche and not in the ring that’s fine by me!”

Hankey’s next major tournament comes at the start of September when he competes in the Winmau World Masters at Bridlington on BBC television.
