The boss of a Shrewsbury initiative aimed at keeping clubbers safe today said a nightclub at the centre of a murder inquiry was still a member of the group as investigations continue.
Richard Goodchild, manager of the Pubwatch scheme, said Liquid and Diva in Raven Meadows would remain a scheme member but this would be reassessed following the outcome of a review of the club’s premises licence next month. The nightclub has been closed since June 29 after the death of Darren Griffiths, 41, from Harmer Hill, following a disturbance at the site.
The Diva section of the premises is due to reopen on Friday after a meeting between club bosses and police officials.
A review of the licence for Liquid and Diva will take place at a meeting of the licensing sub-committee of Shropshire Council on August 20. Mr Goodchild said: “Liquid and Diva will remain members of Pubwatch until the outcome of the licence review.
“I know that the management team at Liquid are doing an awful lot of work behind the scenes and as far as we are concerned until the review of the licence is done they are a full member of Pubwatch.” Two men have been charged with the murder.
