Police today appealed for an angler who may have important information about how a 21-year-old man ended up in the River Severn in Shrewsbury to get in touch with them.
The body of Christopher Wall was found in the river near the weir at Castlefields on Saturday.
He had been missing since the early hours of July 2, after attending a funeral the previous afternoon.
Police have been trying to piece together Mr Wall’s last movements after he left the Telepost Club in the town to walk home shortly after midnight.
Today Detective Sergeant Russ Teece, of Shrewsbury CID, said officers were keen to locate a fishermen who they believe is a potential witness who could help with the investigation.
He said: “This potential witness is believed to be a fisherman and is described as being in his 50s, of heavy build and with one prosthetic leg. He also had short, dark hair which is balding on top.
“He may have important information as to the last movements of Mr Wall before he ended up in the river and could be a vital witness, as he may have been in the area in the early hours of that Thursday morning when Mr Wall disappeared.”
