A former pupil at a Shropshire school who died in the Air France jet crash will be remembered by his classmates this week.

Andras Szarvas, seven, and his mother Rita, moved to Shropshire from Hungary in 2006 and Andras attended Ludlow Infant School for two years.

They returned home last year when the youngster’s mother was offered a job in Hungary.

The memorial to Andras will be part of a dedication ceremony at Ludlow Infants School which will also remember Gail Foster, a parent at the school who died suddenly the week before the plane crash, and another pupil Tom Webb, who died of cancer two years ago.

The ceremony will begin at about 1pm on Friday at the school and Andras’s father Georg Buslig is hoping to travel from Hungary.

Two trees will be planted in memory of Andras and Gail, and Tom’s parents have donated a set of standing musical chimes to be installed in the garden.

Val Matthews, headteacher at Ludlow Infant School, said: “It’s a nice way of remembering them. We have plaques for the trees and for the chimes.

“The garden is still a work in progress, we hope to add to it over the years.”

After the dedication, pupils will get the chance to take part in a fundraising balloon race for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Parents have been invited and there will be refreshments for sale, as well as a raffle.
