Part of Gobowen was sealed off today after reports of a man with a handgun.
Armed police were sent to West Place after the alarm was raised at about 2am.
West Mercia Police said calls to police said a man had been seen with what appeared to be a handgun.
Maria Hawkaluk, police spokeswoman, said: “A cordon was put in place around the area for the safety of the public. A man was arrested at about 4.15am. A search was carried out at an address and a number of items seized.”
The man remains in custody.
