Footage of a vandal causing hundreds of pounds of damage to a parked car in Shropshire has been posted on the internet.

The yob can clearly be seen jumping up and down on the car roof in Bailey Street, Oswestry, before launching himself on to the bonnet in the footage posted on YouTube.

Police are now investigating following a complaint about the car being damaged.

The 31-second night-time footage, taken on a mobile phone camera, is entitled Super Nick Returns To Oswestry and says it shows “Super Nick takes out a car”.

It shows the vandal giving a “thumbs-up” sign and laughing before walking up Bailey Street.

Police have looked at the footage and are also examining town centre CCTV footage.

Maria Hawkaluk, West Mercia Police spokeswoman, said: “Police have received a report of criminal damage to a yellow Peugeot 106 parked in Bailey Street between about 6pm on Saturday, June 20, and 7am on Sunday, June 21.

“Officers are aware of a video on a website which may be connected to the incident. This is being examined by officers, along with CCTV footage from the area.”

The youth is wearing a short-sleeved light-coloured shirt and jeans and his face can clearly be seen as he walks to his friend who is recording the vandalism.

Councillor Heather Bickerton, a member of Oswestry Town Council and former chairman of Oswestry’s Crime Prevention Panel, described the stunt as “atrocious”.

She said: “I find it very sad the youth of today have so little respect for themselves and consequently for other people’s property.

“I think it is also sad people can put this sort of thing on YouTube. I think having this kind of access to the internet is a retrograde step.

“The inherent danger is that other people will copy it. It is atrocious that people do this and then put it on the internet.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000.

Let’s hope that Nick thinks it’s ‘Super’ being banged up behind bars for his efforts then.
